After the solemn words from the vice-chairman of the Kobryn District Executive Committee, Valentin Trubchik, all the participants of the event got on their bicycles and drove along the new cycle path.
To create a bike path, road markings were made, the height of curbs and sidewalks were reduced, the roadsides were strengthened, 189 road signs, 32 LED floodlights, 14 bicycle parking lots were installed. 12 bicycles were purchased to set up a rental center, and traffic lights were set up for the safety of cyclists.
The bike path was opened in the framework of the local initiative of the project «StrongCoM — Strenthening the Covenant of Mayors Movement in Belarus» funded by the European Union. Works were carried out by Kobrin housing and communal services under the leadership of Kobryn District Executive Committee.
The cycle path passes through the main streets and the historical center of Kobryn. A walk along it will take about an hour and will allow you to get acquainted with the main sights of the city.
Vice-chairman of the Kobryn District Executive Committee Valentin Trubchik noted:
– Initiatives such as the Covenant of Mayors give us the opportunity to see our Kobryn clean, cozy and comfortable for life, and for bicycle lovers – to engage in active leisure without compromising road safety.
