How predict the problems of consumers of housing and communal services?

How to improve the effectiveness of feedback with the consumers and highlight the main problems? This topics was discussed at the training on social accountability in the housing and utility sector, organized by the IPO "Ecopartnership" on May 11-12 in Minsk.

Representatives of housing and communal services, executive committees and public organizations from various regions of Belarus took part in the event. Belarusian and foreign experts shared their knowledge with the participants. One of them was an expert from Romania Ciprian Popovici (Green Partners). He talked about his company's experience in solving problems of effective interaction between housing and communal services and consumers.

The foreign expert shares various examples from the practice of his company, which emphasize that it is not the service itself that matters, but people who will or will not use it.

He noted that to improve the efficiency of housing and communal services it is important to instill a proactive style of work when any possible problems are foreseen in advance and resolved before their immediate appearance.

During two days of training, the participants worked in groups, making plans for joint actions on a given topic. Representatives of housing and communal services, executive committees and NGOs separately discussed the volume of their activities on the topic "How to increase the involvement of local people in separate waste collection?". Each of the groups presented a plan for the distribution of responsibilities, as well as the role of the media in achieving their goals.

The event was supported by the project of the European Union "Demand for good governance in housing and utility sector", which is implemented by IPO "Ecopartnership", Belarusian Society of Consumers Protection (BSCP), Vilejka and Iŭje districts executive committees.
