The Faces of Projects Photo Exhibition opened at the Salihorsk Central Square on August 15. "The exposition relates on the most spectacular examples of how, owing to EU-funded initiatives, Belarusians change themselves and make changes in others' lives for the better. Last year, as part of its bilateral support, the European Union allocated 29 million to Belarus for a very wide range of projects. A major project on developing nationwide cycling movement was launched in 2017", noted Ms. Tatsiana Aliakseyeva, Press and Information Officer, Operations of the Delegation of the European Union to Belarus.
The meeting with the town community was also attended by the photo author Ms. Yulia Matskevich and project participants – Ms. Tatiana Yaroshenko representing the Advice for Small Business Programme, and Ms. Olga Kuznetsova, National Program Manager at EBRD Small Business Support for Belarus. Mr. Aleksey Strapko, Deputy Chairperson of the Salihorsk District Executive Committee addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.
The exhibition themes are diverse and highly relevant: environmental protection, sustainable resource management, introduction of energy-saving and green technology, rural development and entrepreneurship support, aid to children from the Belarusian Children's Hospice and women survivors of domestic violence, promotion of the European approach to education and science, preservation of historical and cultural traditions. Among its heroes are scholars, pedagogues, NGO representatives and students.
In the last two years, the Faces of Projects was viewed by residents of twelve towns. In 2017, the exhibition visited seven more towns. The next exhibition will open in Niasviž, and then the exhibition will travel along the Kobryn-Baranavičy-Stolin route.
