Goals and Objectives: Based on joint efforts of the District Executive Committee, non-governmental organizations and the tourism sector, facilitate social integration of people with disabilities and make tourist services available for everyone.
Intermediate Outcomes: The project presentation was held in Valožyn in December 2015; it was attended by the Valožyn District farm owners and representatives of the Belarusian tourism business interested in developing tourism for people with disabilities. In February, based on the Valožyn case, volunteers were trained to assess the accessibility of the urban environment for people with disabilities. The participants – farm owners, representatives of authorities and NGOs and journalists, along with the experts from the Belarusian Society of Disabled People – applied the acquired skills to assess accessibility for people with disabilities of 279 infrastructure facilities, including building entrances, ramps, entrance halls, sanitary facilities, accessway, parking lots, etc in 66 institutions and 14 farmsteads in Valožyn and Valožyn District. Up to 30 social facilities offering social and recreational services will be adapted for the needs of people with disabilities, based on the findings of the monitoring exercise.
A tourist information and recreational center for people with disabilities for expected number of 20 guests and a conference hall, and a specially made eco-path in Naliboki Forest (Nalibokskaja pušča) will open in 2018.
