The European Commission has launched the Call for Proposals "Mayors for Economic Growth"

Belarusian Local authorities are eligible applicants under this call for proposals for grants between EUR 300.000 and 600.000 to implement Local Economic Development Plans.

Mayors for Economic Growth (M4EG) is a new initiative within the Eastern Partnership Flagship Initiative on Sustainable Municipal Development, launched during a high level conference, co-organised by CORLEAP and the European Commission, in Yerevan last October. The M4EG initiative aims at strengthening local authorities’ capacity to implement smart local economic development through enhanced local governance, better planning and more efficient municipal management. Through the initiative, the joining cities should develop and implement local sustainable economic development plans with technical assistance and scientific support from the EU. The champions will receive grant support for implementing pilot projects that should also serve as models of local economic development actions.

The Call will finance the implementation of pilot projects included in cities' Local Economic Development Plans and aiming at:

·         Investing into local comparative advantages to stimulate business development

·         Investing in physical (hard) infrastructure and in soft infrastructure to improve business environment

·         Attracting external investment and increasing the local
