Conference dedicated to urban mobility will be held in Minsk on March, 24, 2017. More than 20 speakers from Belarus, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine and Sweden will gather to share experiences and discuss plans and the best opportunities for sustainable development of the regions in Belarus. The conference will held in the frames of the project “From Energy Efficiency to Urban Mobility”, which is being implemented by Interakcia Foundation and Polack District Executive Committee. With the increase of automobilization of the population, the topic of sustainable mobility is becoming important. The volume of car traffic increases and has adversely affects on the environment, reduces the level of secure residence in the cities. At the same time, bicycle is becoming an increasingly popular mean of transportation in the city. How to find a place for all road users? How to get rid of traffic jams and congestions in Belarusian towns, and restore the attractiveness of public transport? How to implement the introduction of “smart” solutions in Belarusian cities and towns? Answers to these and other questions will be found by the participants in the discussion.
In frames of the conference recommendations on improvement of urban mobility in Belarusian cities will be presented. The list of advice was develop by the experts in the field of transport, environment, etc., which analyzed the situation in Belarusian cities and took as the basis international experience.
The invited experts from abroad will share best practices and innovative solutions. Minsk will host the Coordinator of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan in Vilnius (Lithuania) Kristina Gaučė, Senior Lecturer of the Department “Transport and Roads” at Lund University (Sweden) Aliaksei Laureshyn, experts from Vinnitsa (Ukraine) and Moscow (Russia).
The conference is addressed to city managers, representatives of design institutes, experts in the field of transport, safety and all those interested in the topic of sustainable urban development.
