EU-Belarus Programme for Private Sector Development
In the recent years, the Government of Belarus undertook several steps towards macroeconomic stabilization: it reduced the business regulation burden by taking measures to open markets for goods/services; it has been enforcing a policy facilitating private sector development. A dynamic private sector is exceptionally important for improving productivity, expediting economy growth rates and creating new jobs in Belarus.

Belarus Economic Policy Support
The Belarusian economy needs to lower the government dominance and facilitate private sector development, inter alia, by developing small and medium enterprises; however, it is important to minimize negative social effects of the reforms. The project activities help Belarus develop policies and instruments for quantitative assessment of the effect of individual reforms.

Social Entrepreneurship Incubator
Social entrepreneurship withstands social and environmental challenges by making use sustainable business models, often engaging vulnerable categories in the enterprise operations. Social entrepreneurs re-invest the largest share of their revenues in resolution of their community issues, or donate it to charities. Their main goal is to maximize the social effect: improve the livelihoods of as many distressed people as possible, resolve the problems of starvation and inadequate access to education and health, reduce the environmental footprint.

Advice for Small Business
Entrepreneurship is the core of any economic development; it creates new jobs and develops a healthy competitive environment. It is for a reason that small business is responsible for up to 70% of gross domestic products in a number of developed economies.  The global experience suggests that non-government companies generally perform better that state-owned ones. The Advice for Small Business Project supports effective development of small and medium enterprises in Belarus.

Women in Business

Women's entrepreneurship, as all small business, plays a key role in the national economy. However, women-led companies often encounter problems with accessing finances and knowhow. The project provides support to small and medium enterprises with up to 250 employees and an annual turnover of less than €50 mln. A mandatory requirement is that the company must be led by a woman.

Vegetable-Growing Network of Experimentation, Exchange and Dissemination of Information (ExNet)
