EU-Eastern Partnership Culture and Creativity Programm will help Svietlahorsk to improve the city image

Svietlahorsk, Homeĺ region became a winner of “Creative City and Regions” contest with have been announced in frame of EU-Eastern Partnership Culture and Creativity Programm.

It is widely known the Svietlahorsk has a image as a «city of drug takers» and “City of HIV”. “Although, the problem has been solved in 90th, the stereotype is still alive, - Vadzim Vezhnavets, editor-in-chief of local Media Company “Ranak” and the author idea to take part in the EU contest, says. - Svietlahorsk is a young city. It has only 56 years old. It has always been the city of hopes and youth».

With the “Creative cities and regions” support, and in cooperation with local authorities Vadzim Vezhnavets hopes to improve the image of the city and give a kick to positive changes in the local culture.

In frame of the “Creative cities and regions” program in the close future Svietlahorsk will take the support from EU experts and find the opportunity to establish contacts with other cities from Eastern Partnership Countries. New perspectives for Svietlahorsk culture and creativity sector are also available now.
