Second Conference on the Covenant of Mayors in Belarus will be held on 28 June

The second conference on the Mayors' Agreement in Belarus will be held in Iuje, Hrodna region on June 28, 2018. The event will bring together representatives of Belarusian cities participating in the Covenant of Mayors.

The conference will present innovative approaches used by the signatory cities in the fields of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. Participants will be able to exchange experiences and assess progress achieved over the year.

The main issues to be considered during the event will be:

• Status of the initiative the Covenant of Mayors on Climate and Energy in Belarus;

• Increase of energy efficiency in different sectors;

• Transformation of ambitious action plans for sustainable energy development and climate into projects: financial opportunities;

• Wastewater treatment plants and waste management - Great potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions under the the Covenant of Mayors.

The conference program includes not only presentations of experts, panel discussions, discussions, but also a visit to demonstration sites for energy and climate. Participants will also be able to get acquainted with the historical objects of the Iuje region.

The organizers of the event are IPO "Ecopartnership", Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, Department for Energy Efficiency of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, Iuje District Executive Committee.
