A Call for Applications aimed at developing entrepreneurial activity will be held within Support to Economic Development at the Local Level in the Republic of Belarus Project.
Financial support will be provided to the initiatives in two areas:
- Cluster initiative – a set of measures to seek collective efforts of geographically localized legal entities and individuals with the intention of establishing a cluster and is aimed at developing and strengthening the competitiveness of its participants.
- Socially significant initiative – a set of measures to support entrepreneurial initiative aimed at addressing a social challenge, developing inclusion or expanding support to socially vulnerable groups.
The implementation of the cluster and socially significant initiatives will increase entrepreneurial activity, address local economic development challenges, promote interaction between organizations of non-profit sector, local and self-government bodies, and business community.
“We will support initiatives with economic, social and environmental impact. Business ideas should be sustainable, realistic and innovative; they must be relevant to the territory, where they are planned to be implemented. We hope that this input will contribute to regional economies’ recovery in the current epidemiological situation,” commented Irina Babachenok, Head of Entrepreneurship Department of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Belarus.
“We hope that financing cluster and socially significant initiatives will not only help overcome the social and economic consequences of the pandemic, but also will increase involvement of the most vulnerable groups of society in economic activities, and support small and medium enterprises, which play a crucial role in economic growth,” said Dirk Schuebel, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Belarus.
“Competing initiatives should aim to address regional development challenges. They should foster local sustainable economic growth, the opportunity to have decent work, gender equality, and promote digitalization and innovation. We expect applicants to be innovative, use new methods, ideas and products,” said Alexandra Solovyova, UNDP Resident Representative in Belarus.
