Young people with disabilities and their families in Babrujsk have gained new skills and knowledge

The project “Learning with the whole family” initiated by Babrujsk primary organization “Nadezhda” of NGO “Belarusian association of assistance to children and young people with disabilities” within the project "Learn to Act" (funded by the European Union and co-financed by DVV International) entered a phase of active implementation.

Teenagers and young people with disabilities joined the fascinating world of photography. Photographer Yuri Kalenik helped them along this journey sharing his expertise in the field. The participants learned about the history of the development of photography, explored the evolution and design of devices used in photography. They learned how to apply the received knowledge in practice, regardless of the technical means used for this. Young participants and their parents went to shoot the sunset, took photos in high and low key, practiced in landscape photography and group portraits.

In turn, the participants of the project writing trainings (the second component of the mini-project) – namely, parents of young people with disabilities – thoroughly studied the features of project-writing process. They learned how to identify the problem, define the goals and objectives of the project, find partners and raise additional funds to the project. Representatives of various organizations united to develop project applications and submitted them for open grants competitions - U.S. EMBASSY SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM, Community Development Fund (CMDF), Children's Hospice International.

Additionally, within the framework of the project “Learning with the whole family”, tender and award for mini-projects among those who participated in the trainings was announced. 11 applications were submitted for the tender. The Selection Committee of 5 people selected 3 mini-projects in line with the priorities of the tender.

The winners are: mini-project "Together" of the Social and Information Institution "The Center for Assistance in the Development of Children with special needs "Vklyuchaysya", mini-project "Dad, Mom and I are a Happy Family" of the Private Social Institution "Center for Family and Children" and mini-project "Family Club" of the Public Association of People with Diabilities "Special World".
