The sixth Faces of Projects exhibition dedicated to projects implemented in Belarus with financial support from the European Union opened yesterday at the Central Square of Žlobin.
The opening ceremony was attended by Press and Information Officer, Operations of the Delegation of the European Union to Belarus Ms. Tatsiana Aliakseyeva, Chairperson of the Žlobin Council of Deputies Ms. Mikhail Kosyukov, the photo artist and project author Ms. Yuliya Matskevich, project coordinators and the town community.
Ms. Tatiana Alekseyeva welcomed all exposition guests and remarked that the exhibition heroes' example and their projects might inspire Žlobin residents to implement fascinating ideas in their town.
Ms. Marina Malinina. Project Coordinator, offered an account of the "Education Opens Doors" project. She mentioned that the project helps convicts get education, which facilitates their adaptation in the society and lowers the risk of relapse into crime. It gives them a chance, as correctional institutions rarely offer access to new knowledge and skills.
At the ceremony, Ms. Alesia Chumakova, PR Manager of Ecopartnership International NGO, presented three projects: "Strong CoM – Strengthening the Covenant of Mayors Movement in Belarus", "Requirement for Efficient Management of the Utility Sector" and "Strengthening Waste Management Services for the Rural Population of Puchavičy District, Minsk Region".
Ms. Yuliya Matskevich, photo artist: "Žlobin is especially dear to me, as I was born here. I am very happy to present our joint work and I hope that the town residents will become project heroes in future".
The exhibition will be available for Žlobin residents and visitors through August 12.
After, the ceremony organizers and participants visited Rahačoŭ Raion, where they met representatives of the "Developing an Effective System of Cultural and Information Service for Rural Citizens “The World of Information, Culture and Creation for Everyone” project. The Secrets of Medicinal Herbs museum was shown to the visitors in the village of Zboraŭ. A meeting with Ms. Sofia Kusinkova, the author of "100 Life Stories of Lučin Residents" book and Ms. Svetlana Varikova "History in the Rocks of the Village of Lučin") was held in Lučin. Ms. Sofia Kusenkova is also one of the heroines of the Faces of Projects photo exhibitions.
