Miory got a new ambulance with the EU support

In April this year, Miory Central District Hospital took a new ambulance in its motor pool. The vehicle acquisition was made possible owing to the international technical assistance project “Together for Community and Nature: Strengthening Development Process in Miory District via Cooperation between Local Authorities and Civil Society”, which is financed by the European Union and implemented by Miory District Executive Committee in partnership with BirdLife Belarus NGO and Latvian Rural Forum.

The project has been in operation since May 2009; inter alia, it is aimed at improving the level of development of the district social infrastructure. One of the project components is upgrading the healthcare services and infrastructure.

The vehicle is outfitted with vibration, thermal and sound insulation; two seats for the ambulance team, a swivel medical chair with locking mechanism, a gurney with a receiving device, an oxygen concentrator point and a double oxygen bottle holder. It also has an infusion holder, an air-conditioning system, an external power connector with cable, an extra cabin spotlight, and some other equipment supporting the medics’ efficiency.

Aliona Sivaya, Chief Physician of the Central District Hospital, emphasized that the Ford vehicle is soft, comfortable, outfitted with cabinets for medicines, and all essential medical equipment. It will help improve the speed and quality of the healthcare service provision to the public. “We are thankful to the project for the long-wished-for and so much needed upgrade!” – says Aliona.

The local residents have also noticed the desired support: “Miory residents are thankful to your team,” wrote Iryna Palyakova to the project staff, – “the ambulance is already in operation!”
